Jesus Appoints the Twelve
13 Jesus went up on a
mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He
appointed twelve[a] that they
might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and
to have authority to drive out demons. 16 These are the twelve
he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), 17 James
son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which
means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and
Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

The
Great Commission
Then
the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them
to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came
to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to
me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to
obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age."
What
are the main points in this passage?
·
Jesus
wanted certain men to become His Apostles.
·
Jesus
called these men and they came to Him.
·
Jesus
commissions the 12 Apostles and gives them the Authority to go out and preach
and drive out demons.
·
Even
though Judas would betray Jesus he was still appointed as an Apostle.
Is
there a lesson or principle that is a universal truth?
·
Just as the Apostles were called to serve
God’s Kingdom we too are called by God to serve.
Why
did God put this passage in the Bible?
·
To
remind us that we are to go out and share the Gospel with others.
·
What does the passage reveal about the

My prayer for you:
I
pray you will take God’s Word to heart and ask God to help you apply what you
have learned. I hope and pray that this Bible Study helps you grow spiritually
by deepening your faith, trust and love for God.
Jesus
declared that if we seek God, he will take care of the rest of the things in
our lives:
Matthew

Seek
the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you
everything you need.
In your life, put
God first, and He will take care of "all these
things."

remember the importance and impact of embracing of God’s Word in light of how
we are to be God’s Ambassadors and Teachers, as well as to live abundantly in a

ideas:

Pray - Ask God
to help you understand the
passage of scripture you are
reading.
· Pray - Ask God to help you apply what you are learning.
·
Write down your
thoughts and prayers. Seek to understand
what God is
trying to teach you.
·
Make changes in your patterns of behavior
in accordance to God’s
teaching.
·
Act on God’s answer to prayer.
·
Put God first in your life in every area
of your life (Marriage, Parenting,
Ministry, Work etc.).
·
Be determined to make quality & quantity time for God in
your life (ex.
Quiet time, prayer time, Bible
reading/study).
