What is this passage about?

Scripture to
meditate on before you do this week’s Bible study:
Galatians
1:10 NIV
Am I now
trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I
were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV
For it is by grace
you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can
boast. For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us
to do.

Mark
3:7-12 New Living Translation (NLT)
Crowds Follow Jesus
7 Jesus went out to
the lake with his disciples, and a large crowd followed him. They came from all
over Galilee, Judea, 8 Jerusalem, Idumea, from east of the
Jordan River, and even from as far north as Tyre and Sidon. The news about his
miracles had spread far and wide, and vast numbers of people came to see him.
9 Jesus instructed
his disciples to have a boat ready so the crowd would not crush him. 10 He
had healed many people that day, so all the sick people eagerly pushed forward
to touch him. 11 And whenever those possessed by evil[a] spirits
caught sight of him, the spirits would throw them to the ground in front of him
shrieking, “You are the Son of God!” 12 But Jesus sternly
commanded the spirits not to reveal who he was.

3:7-12 The Message (MSG)
7-10 Jesus went off
with his disciples to the sea to get away. But a huge crowd from Galilee
trailed after them—also from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, across the Jordan, and
around Tyre and Sidon—swarms of people who had heard the reports and had come
to see for themselves. He told his disciples to get a boat ready so he wouldn’t
be trampled by the crowd. He had healed many people, and now everyone who had
something wrong was pushing and shoving to get near and touch him.
11-12 Evil spirits, when
they recognized him, fell down and cried out, “You are the Son of God!” But
Jesus would have none of it. He shut them up, forbidding them to identify him
in public.
