1:35-39 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
35 Very early in
the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off
to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his
companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him,
they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” 38 Jesus replied, “Let
us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is
why I have come.” 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee,
preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

After ministry to many, Jesus went alone
in the morning to pray before extending His preaching to other places.
Who
are the people if any?

Jesus,
Simon and his companions/disciples.

Jesus
is praying. Simon and the other disciples are looking for Jesus.

Jesus
and the disciples travel throughout Galilee.
Jesus is preaching in the Galilee synagogues.

2. Lesson: What do I learn
from this passage?
Prayer before and after service keeps one in the
will of God.
Is there a
warning, command or promise?

Just
as Jesus was given a purpose by God to preach the Good News so are we.
Is there an
example to follow or not to follow?

Jesus
went to a solitary place to pray. It is important for us to find some quiet
time to pray as well.
·
We
need to spend time in prayer each day in order for us to be in God’s will.
What are the
main points in this passage?

Jesus
spends time praying to God in a solitary place.

tells the disciples to go with Him to the nearby villages so He can preach to
others.

Jesus declared that if we seek God, he will take care of the rest of the things in our lives:
(Matthew 6:33) "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"
In your life, put God first, and he will take care of "all these things."
