The Heart of The Artist Part 1 Talking Points Review

The Heart of The Artist Part 1 Talking Points Review:

Matthew 6:24 NIV

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other

As Artists in the Church we use our gifts and talents to lead others in Worship, to lead others to Christ, to reflect who we are in Christ.

·        Our worship and service to God is our life and our purpose
·        Our lives should reflect loving God and praising His name
·        Love, Compassion, Joy, Mercy, Grace, Gratitude, Authenticity, Humility, Reverence, Obedience, dying to self are signs of a Spirit led transformed life along with the fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23 New Living Translation (NLT)
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

·        We need to model Christ-likeness not hypocrisy as the true picture of Christianity
·        We need to strive to Love and Worship God in Spirit and in Truth
·        We also use our gifts to Edify the Body of Christ
·        We need to please and focus others on the audience of One
·        We should always shine the light of hope and salvation for those who do not yet know the Lord
·        We are to do everything with excellence.

1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Questions to consider:
·        Is your art reflecting God’s glory or your own?
·        Are you serving God out of obligation or desire?
·        Is your main focus the audience of one?
·        Are you helping lead others to God or are you creating a distraction or stumbling block for the congregation?

Ponder:
We all need are heart check to see if God is receiving the Glory that is reserved for Him alone.

Remember: allow God’s Spirit to work in you and through you not only for the sake of your own transformation, but also to make a positive difference in other people’s lives.

Who we are in Christ: (meditate on these verses)

2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on
Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Colossians 3:16 NIV
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

In conclusion:
·        It is a privilege to serve God.
·        We should not only honor God with our gifts but with our lives as well.
·        It is time to get serious about our own Character and who we are as Christ followers
·        We need artists in the Church who are known not only for their talent but also for their walk with Christ.

Have a great week……………….Dave
