This
Week’s Bible passage from the Gospel of Mark:
Mark 14: 12-16
Read
the passage below:
Mark
14:12-16 NIV
The Lord's Supper
12On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when it was
customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus' disciples asked him,
"Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the
Passover?"
13So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, "Go into the
city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14Say
to the owner of the house he enters, 'The Teacher asks: Where is my guest
room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' 15He will
show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us
there."
16The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as
Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

and make particular arrangements for the Passover meal.
·

tells the disciples what to do and what to say. Jesus knew ahead of time the
exact details of what was going to take place.
Is
there an example to follow or not to follow?
·
The
disciples knew that it was important to ask Jesus about the Passover
preparations. As an example of
acknowledging Jesus’ authority concerning matters of importance to God, we need
to ask Jesus how we should prepare for each day to live a spirit filled life.
·
The
disciples followed Jesus’ direction. As followers of Jesus we need to be
obedient to Him to the point where He is Lord over our lives.
·
We
need to prepare our hearts each day to put our relationship with God as our
number one priority.

They were then told to follow that man to a house.
·
Once the disciples arrive at the house, they were to ask the owner
where the guest room was where they would be eating the Passover meal.
·
Jesus then tells them the owner would show them a large upper
room. It is in this room the disciples were to make preparations for the
Passover.
·
Everything that Jesus said would take place did.
·
The disciples prepared the Passover meal.
Is there a lesson or principle that is a universal truth?
- Jesus understood the significance of the Passover meal and the symbolism behind it as it related to Himself. During the Passover it was customary to sacrifice the Passover Lamb. Jesus symbolized that Passover Lamb on the Cross.
- Jesus knew what was about to take place. He prepared His disciples for that eventuality. Jesus also prepares us for what is to come.
Why did God
put this passage in the Bible?
·
To
remind us that Jesus understood the timeline of God’s plan. He understood God’s
will and purpose for His life. Jesus was obedient to God’s plan knowingly fully
understanding the suffering he was about to go through. God put this in the Bible to remind us that Jesus
was truly the “Passover Lamb”.
·
God
wants to remind us to be obedient to Him.
·
God
shows us that Jesus had foreknowledge of what was to take. This gives us the
confidence to know and to take to heart the fact that God is in control of His
plan of salvation.

“So
don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the

them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them,
and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live
as he wants you to.
John 10:10 English Standard Version (ESV)

remember the importance and impact of embracing of God’s Word in light of how
we are to be God’s Ambassadors and Teachers, as well as to live abundantly in a
fallen world:

But
in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer
to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do
this with gentleness and respect,
