Mark
Bible Study Lesson 1
Studying the Bible is
more than just reading the text. God uses His Word to speak into our lives.
When we go in depth by reading and meditating on what God has to say, we can be
inspired to have a more personal relationship with Him as well as open the door
to be filled with His wisdom and principles; deepen our hope, faith and trust in
Him; and have a greater understanding of God’s story and His amazing love. Take
these next 2 bible passages to heart:
2
Timothy 3:16-17 New International Version (NIV)
16 All Scripture is
God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Matthew
7:7-8 New International Version (NIV)
Ask, Seek, Knock
7 “Ask and it will be
given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and
to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
God want us to live abundantly,
acting on our faith and trust in Him so that He can fulfill His greater purpose
through us. This is our privilege as followers of Jesus. Even though I have
answered questions to the passage below, take time to write down what God is
saying to you directly. You may find as much insight by doing this in depth Bible
as I have found by doing this study myself. Ask God to teach you the deeper
meaning found in His Word. “Ask and it will be given to you”
John
14:26 New International Version (NIV)
26 But the Advocate, the
Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things
and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Mark Bible Study Lesson 1
Mark
1:1-8 New International Version (NIV)
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
1 The
beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah the Son of God, 2 as
it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I
will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”
who will prepare your way”
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”
4 And so John the
Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the
forgiveness of sins. 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the
people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized
by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of
camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild
honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more
powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and
untie. 8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy
Spirit.”
