The Biblical Worldview Test
A Biblical Worldview
is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely
true, then you allow it to
be the foundation of everything you say and do. That means taking seriously
God’s commands
and principles and applying them to your life.
Do you have a biblical worldview? Answer
the following questions, based on claims found in the
Bible and which George Barna used in his
survey:
- Do absolute moral truths exist?
- Is absolute truth defined by the
Bible?
- Did Jesus Christ live a sinless
life?
- Is God the all-powerful and
all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
- Is salvation a gift from God that
cannot be earned?
- Is Satan real?
- Does a Christian have a
responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
- Is the Bible accurate in all of its
teachings?
If you answered
yes to all these questions then you have a Biblical Worldview. If you are
unsure
or answered no
then I suggest you identify the issues you are struggling with and bring them
before God. Our
Lord promises this:
Matthew
7:7-8 TNIV
Ask, Seek, Knock
"Ask
and it will be given to you; Seek and you will find; Knock and
the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; those who seek find; and to those who knock, the door will be opened.
Wisdom is
something God will gladly deliver upon one’s asking. However, one must believe
that
God will
provide.
James
1:5-7 NIV
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask
God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when you ask, you must believe and
not doubt, because the one
who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and
tossed by the wind. Those who doubt
should not think they will receive anything from the Lord;
It is important
that we trust God for ultimate truth. Here is one of the best reasons why:
Proverbs
3:5-6 TNIV
Trust in the
LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways
submit to him, and he will make your
paths straight.
The
reason why it is important to have a Biblical Worldview stems from the fact
that we are being
bombarded
by our culture with an enormous amount of non-biblical ideas through TV,
movies,
newspapers,
literature, advertising, co-workers, friends etc. We could also do more damage
than good,
if by
what we believe and do, causes other followers of Jesus to stumble in their
faith. By being hypocritical
in
lifestyle, by supporting a non-biblical worldview, is something we must each address
if it is our desire
to
become a disciple of Jesus. How are we going to be a good witness for the
Gospel if are not able to fully
believe
and explain what our faith encompasses? As a good witness for the Gospel we must be able to defend our faith (Apologetics). The way to become a good witness to the
Gospel is to embrace
a Biblical Worldview. The Bible inspires us to live for the glory of God.
1
Corinthians 10:31-33 NIV
So whether you eat or drink or whatever
you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews,
Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everybody in every way.
For I am not seeking my own good but
the good of many, so that they may be saved.
Once we have
embraced our Biblical Worldview it is important to stand firm in our faith.
1 Corinthians 16:13 TNIV
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

Galatians 5:1 TNIV

yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Ephesians 6:14 TNIV

righteousness in place,
Colossians 4:12 TNIV

Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in
prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully
assured.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 TNIV
So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you,
So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you,
whether by word of mouth or by letter.
When we stand firm in our faith, where the reality that
God and His Word are ultimate truth, we can live
abundantly no matter what the circumstances, and help
others on along on their journey of faith.
The whole idea of having a Biblical Worldview is for the
sake of personal and corporate transformation.
We are called to become disciples of Christ. Our mission
is to help others do the same. Let’s analyze the
“Great Commission”:
Matthew
28:18-20 NIV
Then Jesus came
to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
me. Therefore go and make disciples
of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
The question is,
Are Churches making disciples?
Disciple: A
follower of Jesus who learns and adheres to His teachings, striving to be like
Him.
The "Church" should ask itself, are we being
successful in developing devoted followers or are we just adding to our
numbers?
This is a big challenge we have to deal with in a God honoring way. I believe in order to go and make disciples one
must first become a
disciple. We must live by example, and our words and actions must be in line
with God’s reality which
are His principles of faith and action.
The first step to
becoming a disciple is to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. God must then be at
the top
of our priority
list. Once Jesus becomes our Lord and Savior, everything we think and do take on new
meaning and purpose. Our
lives are now impacted by the supernatural way we stay in tune with the Holy
Spirit. We can then have the
strength and discernment to live a Godly life in an ever increasing ungodly
world.
Think about
where you are in relationship with God. Think about the changes you need to
make in
order for Jesus become
Lord and the authority and the driving force behind everything you do. This
does
seem like a tall
order to fill, but in light of eternity very, very important.
Luke
9:23-25 NLT
Then he said to
the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my
follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your
cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you
will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or
destroyed?
Let’s live a
Christ-centered life over the temptation to live a self-centered one. We have a
great opportunity
right now to
share our hope and faith in the “Good News” with the world. The Biblical
Worldview we stand firm on will make a positive
difference in the way we live and communicate to others who are investigating a
life with Christ. While
we ourselves are transformed from the inside out, others will benefit from our
Christ-likeness. Instead of a hypocritical
and legalistic approach to our faith, one will see God’s grace, love and power
lived out in us as we live
fully devoted lives to the true God of the Bible. The fruit produced from this relationship with Jesus will have
a positive impact on a world that is putting faith in all the wrong
things. Those who desire
success in life should re-evaluate what this really means. True success is
loving God and ones neighbor. True
success is leaving a Godly legacy for families and friends. True success is becoming a fully devoted follower
of Jesus. True success is being known by God and being called to serve His kingdom. True success is humility before God. True success is surrendering ones will and living a life of obedience to the Lord. Remember - Surrender is victory in God's kingdom.
True followers of Jesus will embrace God’s Word in order to become motivated and inspired.
To help us represent Christ in a fallen world we must appropriate the teachings of Christ, live Spirit filled lives, and seek God's will and Glory in everything we say and do. The Bible says
this:
John 15:5 TNIV
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;
apart from me you
can do nothing.
Ask yourself, Does my Church support a Biblical Worldview?
If God has given
us the mission to go and make disciples, then we should adhere to a Biblical Worldview and embrace God's principles of life with authentic
devotion and faithfulness. This will help us with our ministry to send the right message to those we encounter who are on a journey
for ultimate truth. We are the salt
and light to a fallen world. Let’s continue to tell others about the length
that God went to show His love and
grace. Let’s show them what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Let’s love
our neighbor and pray that
our devotion to Jesus and God’s Word sets the example to help others find the
path to truth and a new life
in Christ. When a Church does not support a Biblical Worldview it muddies the waters of God's truth, even to the point of corrupting the holy Word of God. Teaching that does not adhere to God's truth can cause much damage to a persons understanding of who God is and the the power of the Gospel.
Here is the truth about the power of God's Word:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 New International Version 1984
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Hebrews 4:12 New International Version 1984
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
So what is our challenge?
Take to heart this passage from James.
James
1:22-25 NIV
Do not merely listen to the word, and so
deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it
says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at
himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he
looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting
what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.
The Bible is truth:
Psalm 119:160 New International Version 1984
All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal
John 17:17 New International Version 1984
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth
May God be lifted up by your love for Him and by the way you are living out the truth of His Word.
